Universal Love
Posted on November 13th, 2009 2 commentsContemporary New Age writers are usually wrong in many areas. The concept of “Universal Love” is a perfect example of this. The lovey-dovey message of “we are all one” and “we must love one another unconditionally” is hard to follow in practical life. While the concept is true, when we face the diverse and often the ill-disposed people we may run into, one can understand why Universal Love is a “hard nut to crack”.
Apollonius of Tyanna had the following prayer; “O Sun, conduct me to whatever part of the world may seem good to you and me; and grant me to know only the virtuous; as to the wicked, I wish neither to know them nor be known by them.”I work in a casino, a gambling place, owned by an Indian tribe. People always ask me if I love everyone who I come in contact with and my answer is always the same.
I like everybody. I like people. This inner confirmation allows me to attract people whom I can feel a connection with and keep away the riff-raff. This has worked amazingly well, and this is how it should be. It is impossible to love everyone but we must allow ourselves to like everyone. This works like magic.2 responses to “Universal Love”

Andreas – my concept relates to the Bodhisattva Who sacrifices for the sake of all beings – that is love. Or the energy of love – the psychic energy that we can dispense in the world – it is spirit life and accomplishes what it does with its own intelligence, subject to our sendings. And then I’m reminded of the Master saying ‘do not judge’. How can we know the heart and needs of people? How can we know if, although they are rough on the outside our open-hearted love for them as creatures of God will aid them on a path to betterment? I have noticed that many people I would avoid end up being just shy or hurt and actually aspiring and open to spiritual ideas. I think it’s better to feel love for everyone, not ‘namby pamby’, and allow the spirit to work, because ‘there but for the grace of God go I’ – cheers, Martino
